Answer:
This is a good learning experience. You screwed up, now you have to fix it. We all do it sometimes. You should go get a job. Use the money to pay for school. Retake the classes you failed, and work your butt off to make sure you don't fail them again. Many schools offer grade forgiveness, where courses you repeat come off of your GPA. As you get your GPA up, you may be able to reinstate your financial aid, but that's not guaranteed. As to loans, yes, you can borrow money, but the long-term cost is very high. Since you are apparently struggling academically, I would not recommend borrowing for a degree you may not be able to finish. You would have to repay the money even if you didn't finish the degree, and the payments can be difficult to make. Again, I suggest working for a little while to earn your tuition and pay for the next couple of semesters. As you do better, raise your GPA, and show yourself and others that you can succeed in school, then you can consider loans to fill any gaps in funding. Finally, you need to ask yourself why you are in school. Is college for you? It's OK if it's not. There are a lot of good people who make a living without a degree. It's harder today than it's ever been to do that, but there is no shame in working an honest job, such as carpentry, electrical, or auto mechanic. Make sure you choose something that you'll enjoy doing every day for the next 30 years, and don't feel like you have to go to college because everyone else is. If college is your chosen path, then I commend you for sticking to it, even though it's hard. Now work your tail off, get good grades, and find a way to pay for it (ie get a job). I worked my way through school, working 20 hours per week. I graduated debt-free and learned a lot by having to balance work, school, and life. Several employers I've talked to have told me that students that work their way through school earn a lot more respect than those who just attend school.

I am having a similar problem. Fall 2009 was my first semester in college and i screwed up big time, failing 2 of my 5 classes. I was a very bright student in high school (graduated with a 3.7). I got accepted into college with a full tuition scholarship and got it taken away because my gpa fell to a 1.7. (Thank God it's a 2.7 now) The 2010-2011 school year will be my sophomore year of college and i've had my financial aid taken away for that school year because i didn't get 24 credits the previous year. Don't know what to do!!! Im going to speak to my financial advisor to see if there is any way to get additional monies and/or loans to pay for my tuition in the fall.

Just do the appeal and then chalk it up as a learning experience. Take time off and work full time and save up. I know a guy who had to do just that. He is working 2 jobs and lives with a roommate to make ends meet. He has been able to get back into school again. good luck and study!

you failed all of them? well if you just failed 1 or 2 try to GRO them.. that means you retake the class and that grade replaces the f. I'm not sure if you couldl do that at your school though

You wont be able to get a loan since your aid was taken away as your considered a high risk. If you don't want to appeal (which for the majority of all cases where aid was taken away due to non-major life changing events there usually denied) than you need to pay for a few classes on your own. Its up to how the school handles them. Some say that you just have to raise your gpa up over a 2.0 or a 2.5 (whatever their standards are) and some say that you have to take so many classes do decent in them and then you'll get aid back.
