OSAP - Ontario Student Assistance Program Question.?
-
Hello I am really stressed and would like knowledgeable answers. So I have a lot of debt and am 2.5 credits away from a 20 credit program. I finished 5 half credits last term (heaven help me) and right now I am taking 3 half credits making me a full time student. i plan to do as much work as i can from home but will probably have to drop a couple before i have academic penalty (but will still be paying for the courses). If I do drop them and pass the one will OSAP consider me no longer a full time studen at this point and want repayment?

Answer:
you need to be a full time student in order to continue to be eligible for full time OSAP. If you drop to part time, you can apply for OSAP as a part time student. Your repayment periods start when you stop attending school. so if you stop, you have to apply for RAP or one of the other programs to avoid starting your repayment. If you continue as a part time student, you may be able to submit a "Continuation of Interest Free status" form to OSAP so they don't start the clock on your repayment period. Normally, when you stop being a student OSAP will want you to start repayment 6 months after your end date.
