If you have a wells fargo student loan, how do I lower the interest rate?
-
I already consolidated my government student loans, but as to my knowledge these companys don't consolidate private loans.
-
Answer:
Sallie Mae consolidates private student loans. Interest rates for private student loans are typically credit-based - they're not guaranteed by the gov, so they're much higher risk to the lender. If you want to lower the interest amount - you should get your credit in shape *before* consolidating and/or find a cosigner with good credit. The cosigner can be released after 24 on-time payments. http://www.salliemae.com/after_graduation/manage_your_loans/consolidate_student_loans/private.htm
