Is the Solano Community College in Fairfield, CA a good place to enter?

Can I get accepted into University of Maryland? Please help.?

  • I am a senior in high school, and am starting to apply for colleges. My major for my undergraduate degree is Political Science. With University of Maryland being a great school to study Political Science, and with it being minutes away from Washington D.C., I feel that it would be an ideal place for me to study. However, I am very weary about my qualifications to enter the school. My GPA is a weighted 3.2. This is due to my math skills being a challenge for me throughout my high school tenure. The rest of my courses are Honors and AP courses, and I have done well in them all. Throughout my high school career, I have been in Future Business Leaders of America for 4 years (including 3 in middle school), Students Against Destructive Decisions for 4 years, College Reach Out Program for 1 year, Fellowship of Christian AthAthletesr 2 years, Drama Club for 2 years, Debate club for 1 year, Gay-Straight Alliance for 2 years, and Chess club for 1 year. I also participated in Cross Country, Golf, and Wrestling, although I don't plan on playing on a school team while in college. Outside of school, I am a member of The Trevor Project (the nation's leading organization dealing with LGBT - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender - Youth suicide and crisis prevention) Youth Advisory Council. In the Youth Advisory Council, I go to schools, community centers, and businesses to speak to students, parents, teachers, administrators, businesspeople, and ordinary citizens about the current LGBT Youth suicide issue, and how we can be more acecpting of others in our communities, and how we can help those who we suspect are being bullied, or are depressed. I myself am gay. I came out when I was 15. I have worked with various organizations to fight for Gay Rights, such as the Human Rights Campaign, The Trevor PorProjectquality Florida, and the American Civil Liberties Union. In June 2011, I went to the Florida State capital, Tallahassee, and argued for two gay rights initiatives in the Florida Senate and my successful arguing was able to get the initiatives passed through the legislature. For my successful arguing, I was awarded a "Distinguished Senator Award" through the student program that was sposponsoringe event that allowed me to address the Senate. I also created the first Gay-Straight Alliance club at my high school, to allow LGBT students to have a place where they can interact with others like them, as well as a place for their straight peers to come together and accept them for who they are, and give them support. The Gay-Straight Alliance also provides education on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Bullying Prevention, and free HIV testing/Health Counseling by the local health department. About a year ago, I joined the Hendry County Democratic Executive Committee. This allowed myself to become more active in political and legislative issues not only in the State of Florida, but in the Federal LegLegislature well. 4 months ago, I was named the Executive Chairman of the Hendry County Young Democrats, as well as the Hendry County Democratic Executive Committee Legislative Liason. During my freshman year of high school, I competed in the Regional Science Fair, continuing my 3 year study of Lake Okeechobee, and the effects of Phosphorus, Silicate, and Nitrates, and how they played a role into the eutrophic state of the lake. I worked in the Water Quality Lab owned by the South Florida Water Management District, with other Water Quality scientists. My research concluded that fertilizers from a nearby sugarcane field and runoff pollution was contributing to the increase in eutriophic activity, which had in turn, killed off at least 7 different species of marine life in the past 15 years. At the fair, I was awarded the People's Choice Award, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association award. I am also a defense attorney in the Hendry County Teen Court. Teen Court is held in the county courthouse, and presents actual cases with actual juveniles who have been arrested. As a defense attorney, it is my duty to represent the juvenile's best interest, and try to get the juvenile a smaller punishment for the crime committed. My main goal is politics and government. I would like to go to law school, to become a Criminal Defense and LGBT Rights Attorney. However, my main career goal is to become a member of the United States House of Representatives, and work my way up the political ladder. I was born from a humble background, and I learned that although I didn't have everything I wanted, that I was truly blessed, to at least have a roof over my head, a family that loved me, and food on the table. I want to get into politics, so that I may help people who don't have these "luxuries." I want to give people hope that they too can have a great quality of life, and that they don't have to worry about providing for their families. This is essentially my background. Do you t

Honestly, I looked at your question and totally didn't want to read it. Not only is it way too long but it cuts off at the end meaning you would have kept going and going. This kind of question needs o be shortened by 80% at least. Just trying to be helpful as it seems nobody else bothered to read it either.
