Where can I get money for tuition?

Does anyone know how I can get money to pay tuition?

  • I don't have enough money to pay for my tuition this semester. I can't get a student loan because I need a co-signer, and I don't have anyone to ask to co-sign. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

  • Answer:

Go to the financial aid office in your school. Sit down with a counselor. Tell her your problem- she may be able to offer you 1. a school based loan in which you will repay after you graduate- they usually do not care about your credit so you won't need a co-signer however, you probably will have to be a junior or senior to get it-- the first two years are the red years- meaning the percentage of students that drop out is higher than those that stay in so they do not take the risk of loaning money to kids they feel will not get through to get their BS. 2. Scholarships - again, sit with the counselor and see if they have anything available. 3. Work study program- they SHOULD have work programs at your school where you would work for whatever amount they set and it will go toward your tuition-- the benefit of this, you don't pay taxes on that money like you would a regular job. 4. There are 2 types of student loans subsidized and unsubsidized- make sure you ask the counselor about these- if your parents do not qualify for a loan, which I feel they dont since you dont have a co-signer, you can get both and that should help you financially. Both will have to be repaid after graduation but the both are through AES - American Education Services and are Stafford loans. 5. If your parents cant help you, you should qualify for a PELL Grant- and that would be based on your need. Good luck to you honey- and do NOT take no for an answer from the counselor- sit there and be sincere, straightforward and do not leave without getting the money you need to finish this year- determination is what will get you the money from the counselors- Trust ME!

Theres several things I did when I was in your situation. First, my situation required explanation as to why FAFSA reported super high income even though we were very poor, so I went to my financial aid counselor and explained the situation. My school gave me more money after that. I also got a job, but you already have that. Perhaps a better job? I was able to clear almost 5k in 3 months working as a delivery driver (20 hrs a week VERY DOOABLE). Since I attend school, I don't work because I have sort of a have safe amount of money. What I do in my spare time for money is do surveys for cash. CashCrate, Ihttp://www.*************/index.php?ref=148713 is one of those sites. Here's proof that they actually pay http://www.*************/forums/showthread.php?t=22&page=24 It's not much, but you don't really have to do much to make some extra change a month Those are the three things I've done, so I hope it helps you out later on.
