Do you have to go to uni to have a student loan?

I want to apply through clearing but have no student loan?

  • i applied to uni this year and got rejected by my first two choice so declined the offers from the others as i thought that if i didn't want to go there then there was no point. but now i have changed my mind and have looked at clearing and found a place that i could quite easily get but i don't have a student loan or accommodation, so... can i still go? i will need a student loan though, so is it too late to apply for one? im so confused.

Hi! Congratulations on getting your place through clearing. At this stage, you can still apply for a student loan. There are no guarantees that the loan will be in place for the start of term, but you will receive back payments. Check out the direct gov website at: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/UniversityAndHigherEducation/StudentFinance/index.htm With regards to accommodation, there will be plenty of options still available to you. Firstly check out your universities accommodation office, as they will be able to help you find accommodation. We hope this helps! The DIGS Team
