What is the average monthly cost of student loans?

I will be a graduate student this year. How liberal can I use my loans for Cost of Living?

• Little more specifically.... I came out to my wife I am a transgendered Male to Female and long story short, she left me and called my job. Lost my job a week later then lost my home and finally my car to my estranged wife. I had always wanted to go back to college and get a Masters. Now, Good news is I got accepted this week and they have on campus housing. Ill be staying in a one bedroom apartment. Bad news is, I literally LOST everything coming out. EVERYTHING. I have maybe half a suitcase an an IMAC. My question is, can i use some of my student loan to purchase much needed basic furniture and possible a really cheap car so I can get around to shop, work, etc? I know the school will let me have some cost of living but is it dictated to the school how much I am allowed to have after tuition is covered? Or can I, with good budgeting skills, use some of the loans to help me get back on my feet while at grad school. Thanks!!!
