Can I change my parent on FAFSA?

Where do I go to change my financial aid mailing address?

  • It's the time where my grace period starts ending, so I should be paying them off soon. However, it has always been sent to my parent's house, and I now live in a different city. I don't know where to go to change all my loan addresses at once, since I only got loans from FAFSA. Where can I do this? There isn't a change option on the FAFSA website.

  • Answer:

Clarification: Higher eduction student loans never have come from FAFSA. FAFSA is just an application form provided by the U.S. Dept. of Education so that information for the student and his/her parents can be easily shared with the college/university the student is attending. You must have signed some loan documents when you took out the loan(s.) If you did not keep copies, perhaps your parents did. First, I recommend you check with your parents to find out if they know which lending agency gave you loan funds. From a Student Aid on the Web page (part of the FAFSA web site): * http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/repaying.jsp [Quote] Repayment Information The U.S. Department of Education's National Student Loan Data SystemSM (NSLDSSM) provides information on your federal loans including loan types, disbursed amounts, outstanding principal and interest, and the total amount of all your loans. To access NSLDS, go to www.nslds.ed.gov. If you're not sure who your loan servicer is, you can look it up on www.nslds.ed.gov or call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243; TTY 1-800-730-8913). To see a list of Federal Student Aid servicers for the Direct Loan Program and for FFEL Program Loans purchased by the U.S. Department of Education, go to the Loan Servicer page. [End quote] This is the link to the Loan Servicer page: (http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/FSALoanServicers.jsp) If you can still not figure out which lender provided your student loan, perhaps the financial aid office of the school you attended still has that information in its records for you.
