Should i take out Parent PLUS loan?

My parents are divorced, can i have the one i havent lived with take my parent plus loan?

  • im was accepted into a university, but seeing as im not wealthy i have to take many loans to pay for my schooling, the only way i can afford it though is i HAVE to take the parent plus loan. my question is, my fafsa information was all done on mine and my moms income, not my dads seeing as ive never lived with him. my mom refuses to take the plus loan so can i have my dad take the loan or will the amount be readjusted? surely as long as a parent takes the loan in case i default than it doesn't matter right? that's all they care about i would imagine if yes, is there any other necessary steps that can be taken for him to take the loan?

  • Answer:

Honestly, I don't know. The only way to know for sure is to call the Dept of Education and ask. 1-800-4FEDAID.
