Native American scholarships?

Scholarships for people who have native american in them?

  • So i heard that a group of people give these kind of scholarships out. my dad is native american/indian. but just by looking at me you couldnt tell that i had some in me. so does anyone know where i get this info. (and dont tell me just search it. does anyone have the address?) and how much do these scholarships go for?

  • Answer:

There is NO money being handed out to native americans and I really wish we could stop this myth from being spread around. It is amazing and disgusting how many people suddenly "find" native american links when they think there might be money involved. There is some scholarship money available through the tribe, and given to tribal members. If you're not part of the tribe, you are not entitled to apply for that. And if you are not part of the culture, you are not part of the tribe. If you were eligible to be enrolled in the tribe (and therefore qualify for the scholarship) you would already be, and your father would tell you how to apply for it. But what really annoys the heck out of me is that you are only doing this for money, and not for any other reason. That, more than anything, convinces me you are white.

scholarships come from the tribe a person is enrolled in and the student must compete for them like all other scholarships. these are for actual native students, not people with some family story of a gr gr grandmother who might have been native you aren't native, so you don't qualify. apply for all the hundreds of other scholarships you do qualify for. there is no such thing as free college for anyone because of race.

Why not ask your Dad, considering he is Native American......? Shouldn't he know? Let me guess....he doesn't have any tribal affiliation, right? Scholarships are given out by the individual Bands/Tribes and only by those who can afford to. They must be applied for, like any other scholarships, have certain criteria to be met and are not open to those who are not a member of the community. Its sad the amount of people on here who are only interested in their Native heritage when it somehow benefits them.

You must have a tribal card to be considered native American for this heritage to be considered. If your Dad does not have one then you would be unable to get one. Generally you must be able to prove the heritage and get the tribal card from the specific tribe that you belong to. It has nothing to do with what you look like. I knew a woman who was a blonde who had a card as her grandmother was full blooded.

Well I never heard of it. The government always give out money to someone when they.....>.> nevermind. Anyways. No, I don't think so. If you're not full-blooded then I don't think u can. If you could, then about evey half-breed could get one. Srry.. Maybe you can get a tribal ID card. But i personally dont think its very fair....but nvm me.
