How difficult is it to get into the nursing program?

How can I get grants to help pay bills while in the nursing program?

• I want to get into the nursing program. I have 27 college hours and am waiting to get excepted, but am worried about supporting my family. I have been wanting to become a nurse for years, but am afraid I won't be able to do it. The program is from 8-2:30. If I go to work full time I won't have time for my homework. I know if I finish my family will be good in the long run and I will have achieved one of my goals. I just wish there was a way. I live in Maryland and am a male if that helps for grants or anything. Please if someone knows a way please let me know.

  Are you a single parent? If so you may be able to get grants. I am trying to get my RN as well and I know how hard it is so I want to wish you good luck. If you apply for grants and student loans, and the money that they don't use for tuition and books, they will send you a refund. Last semester I got a refund of $2800 and I don't have any kids and I am not supporting anybody else. So depending on if you support more than one person will usually determine how much money they will award you. One of my coworkers goes to the same school that I go to and she has one child and is a single mother and she got a refund of $6000. So fill out a FAFSA and apply for student loans. I know some people don't want to apply for student loans because you eventually have to pay it back but it will be all worth it in the long run. I am also going to a community college which is so much cheaper than a university. I hope this helps and good luck.
