What happens to my federal pell grant if I am awarded a scholarship?
-
I have a pell grant for $1700 this semester but was awarded a $200.00 book scholarship. But then when I went to purchase my books for $122 I noticed that my $200 book scholarship was awarded but then the financial aid dept deducted $200 from my financial aid. Don't see the point in it all, other than I know I can't get remaining balance cash back on a scholarship. I could have received $88 refunded IF I would have declined the scholarship! So where does that $200 financial aid go? Back to the government or back to my available balance next semester? or Back to the college?

Answer:
Something similar happened to me. And, when I got my refund check that's where I noticed. It could be different at your school, but they used my scholarship and then my financial aid. I would just ask the financial aid dept.
