How can I reenroll into college?

How can i pay for college without parent's help?

  • I'm 20 years old and I was academically suspended from my university after my freshman year in 2005. I'm getting my life together and am ready to reenroll in school, but my parents aren't willing to help right now until i prove I am serious this time. I haven't been dependent on them for any financial support since 2004, but i still have to claim as a dependent on the financial aid application. I'm pretty sure my parents make way too much money to qualify me for financial aid, so how else can i pay for college without their help?

    There are a few options, I don't know where you are from and what you plan on majoring in but the community colleges around me are actually very good and very affordable. You can go there for two years and then transfer to a university of your choice after, and maybe your parents will help you. Also as mentioned work study programs are great. Additionally there are thousands of grants and scholarships as well as loans that you can apply for. www.fastweb.com has tons of scholarship and grant information, best of luck

Apply for a scholarship! You could also apply for grant or student loan. If all else fails, you could have bake sales! LOL!

Enroll into a cheap community college and take a student loan out. Get a job. Try asking parents for help again. If they still say no. Declare yourself independent. Applied for financial aid, finish you’re A.A. Transfer to a university if you can. State Schools are much cheaper that private. Paying for college yourself will be hard, but if you really want it, you can do anything. It’s a New Year.

Can you get an entry level job at a company that has tuition assistance? Do that for a year and build up a reserve of money to pay your next year's tuition. You can always get a student loan - there is no income limits to do so. Good luck to you getting your life together and getting a degree. If you want it badly enough, you will find a way.

You have several options in your court for paying for college. Look into the military, most banks provide loans just for college students and/or you could work for the college/university. How I am paying for my education is that I work for the college I am going to. Most academic degree granting places will pay 75% to 100% of tution for working for them. Regarding the loan from banks you can pay after you graduate. Hope this helps, Mike

Work somewhere for two years. Give all the money that you will make to your parents to pay for all your current bills. Live at home and be nice to your parents, and obey them. Only ask for your budget for gas and some spent. Wearing the clothes that you already have. Stay off your entertainment with friends. Take some class from the community college or online class. If you can prove to them you change and mean it then you can discipline yourself for this. When they see that you work hard enough and didn’t rune their income again then maybe they might work on something with you. College isn’t cheap. Good luck.
