Finacial aid question HELP!?
-
I was put on academic probation last semester but i raised my gpa to a 2.7 more than the required 2.0. I have finished all my classes and I applied for financial aid but they send me a letter saying that i didnt qualify because i must raise my gpa to a 2.0 and must complete 67% of all units. I dont know what to do. Can i still receive financial aid if i go to my school's financial aid's office or am i screwed. Plus i received financial aid for one year.

Answer:
Always go to the financial aid office, call, email, show up every single day if you have to, I was known for doing this at my school, lol. Seriously that's what they are there for and they can always find SOME way to help you. Be proactive! Your education is the most important thing, and if your like me, your lost without your financial aid, you need to keep on top of it no one else will do it for you. Be sure to send a thank you note for annoying them when your all done, and it will score you points for next time.

You could try contacting them and appealing the decision since you did raise your GPA quite a bit, but there are no guarantees it'll work if they want you to have also complete 67% of all units.

Send or fax a copy of your CGPA to Fafsa?, (I am assuming that is who you are using). Also go to your F.A. office and talk with someone about that.

It all depends on the timing of things- was the decision made while your GPA registered 2.0? Here is my suggestion: contact your fin aid office and schedule an appt for early next week (sooner the better). Before the meeting prepare your documentation showing that your GPA is a 2.7 At the meeting discuss whether or not your new grades requalify you for fin aid. There is little gray room with fin aid- you either qualify or you dont. If you dont qualify you have options- you can get a student loan from places like estudentloan.com or nextstudent.com for the semester you wont receive fin aid from your school. Usually once your grades get up youll be eligible to receive fin aid for the next upcoming semester. Good luck bud, but with persistence anything is possible.
