Am I eligible for minority scholarships even though I am only half-Native American?

  • I was looking into college and summer programs, and minorities reap many benefits... Am I considered one even though I am half-native american, half-italian? Is there any way to still get some minority scholarships?

    You can apply and some places don't even ask for CIBs but do expect other skins to be checking you out to see if you really are a skin. I've seen too many thinking that 'membership has its privileges'.

Yes, you will benefit greatly from your Native American ancestry. The government, in any state, will be happy to review your applications and give you what you need to sucseed financially. I believe individuals who are less than a sixtheenth Native American may check the Native American box on the ethnicity check boxes. Good luck.

You would be, but you would have to prove the half native american. Is it on your birth certificate? do you have a CIB (certificate of indian blood) card? Have you looked on the BIA website? (bureau of Indian affairs) Check it out. Good luck!

My guess would be yes. If you don't have it already, get your CIB. (Certificate of Indian Blood). Since you have a fair amount of Indian blood in you, getting a CIB won't be difficult. You have so many benefits with a CIB! I know that the college in Durango, Colorado lets Indians in for free. I think the the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana does, too. Good luck!

Yes, get your blood work I forget wht it's called. Doesn't matter which parent is Native American. That's any minority, I went to school who's mother was whote, father black. Her older siblings were not biracial and all her friends were white. However when it came down to going to school, she had no problem putting down that she was black to get the scholarships.

A bunch of them base it on the ethnicity of your father. Check each of the requirements. I know you have to be at least 1/8 or 1/16 to officially join the indian nation groups.
