Should I minor in Information Systems with a bachelors in accounting?

How to funding a second bachelors degree? Information Systems?

  • The short story is I graduated with a BA in political science a year ago and I'm having a tough time a stable job. I was considering law school while in undergrad but decided that it wasn't the best option for me late in my senior year. That being said, I really have an interest in information systems and I would like to study if full time if possible. I already know about the stafford and perkins loan lifetime limits and that there are no grants given to degree holders. I am also aware that there are a number of private loans out there as well. My question is if someone out there has earned a second degree how did you finance it and (if you took classes part time) what are some good part time/full time jobs that helped pay for your second education. Basically, I need marketable skills and experience. A bit about me: 1.I want to get into Information Systems or Comp Sci. I have read/researched extensively about these fields but I do not have the qualifications for an IT position at this point. I'm a complete noob. 2. I don't live with my parents so I have to pay rent while going back to school. 3. I do have a job now, but the company is starting to lay off people and I'm a relatively new hire (6 months ago.) Do the math. 4. I am considering getting a cheaper AA degree to get my foot in some door, but I hear that is very very hard to get even an entry level IT job with just an AA degree. Thank You for any possible suggestions. (Please only serious answers) Also, if there are any people in the IT profession PLEASE let your voice be heard.

  • Answer:

I was a political science major who went back to school to get an even more worthless degree in Anthropology. I did it by working FT at the University as Staff and getting free tuition which came in handy for grad school. I doubt if you have capped your federal loan limit so I think you should complete the FAFSA and indicate that you are interested in receiving these types of funds. Also, not to be making light of your situation but if you do get laid off you can qualify for unemployment and in most States the Unemployment Office will pay for you to go back to school.
