Do you attend to 2-year community college in two years only, and no more than two?
-
I'm attending Cedar Valley College and this is my second year on first semester that I'm on. The requirements to receive an Associate Degree is to earn 61 credits on two year college. I only have 25 credits and a lot more to go. What if I go to communitry college more than at just two years? Does that mean that I am NO longer to receive any degree by May 2011?

Answer:
You can attend a 2-year college for more than 2 years. It's referred to as a 2-year school because if you attend full-time, you can typically complete your degree in 2 years. Obviously, if you attend part-time, it will take you at least twice as long. You are still eligible for a degree and financial aid. Financial aid will only cover up to 150% of the required credits needed for a degree... so, if your degree requires 61 credits, then you can use financial aid for up to 91 credits. You are eligible to receive the Pell for up to 18 semesters (or quarter equivalents). This will be a problem for you if you continue to attend only part-time and plan to transfer for your Bachelors degree, after completing your Associates.

Depends on the college, but you do need to get the credits to get the degree. Often schools will have a maximum amount of time attached - if you don't complete by then, you're no longer in good standing and will never get the degree. So, best to check what the rules are there and make sure you're within them by taking extra courses as available to catch up.
its called a 2 year community college as most people only spend 2 years there. however if you don't take enough credits within those 2 years than you just continue going. To get 61 credits in 2 years you would of needed to do a couple summer semesters or take 15 hours each semester (and 1 16 hour semester). It looks like your only doing around 12 (which is full time and all i really take as well and many others) so it will just take you another semester longer (unless you go below 12 hours a semester). You wont be receiving a degree by May 2011 no but you'll be able to get it shortly after.
