What exactly is financial aid and how do you get it?

What are my chances of getting approved for Financial Aid and how long does it take to get approved?

• I'm 25. I live with brother and his wife. I'm just looking for work but in the mean time I wan't to go to community college so I can get an associates degree in radiography. My brother and wife have been real helpful he's offered to help pay but I just don't feel comfortable because he's not rich, he has his own bills and his own family to look after. Here is the issue, I can't apply for the FASFA until June 15th almost near the June 30th deadline. I am currently unemployed but actively seeking work so just in case say I'm still unemployed what are the chances of me getting Fasfa. I'm looking to register for Fall classes which begin in August 27th. How long does it usually take for FASFA to tell you if your eligible or not So all in all Unemployed Living with brother How much will I get if approved? 10 POINTS please be informative.

  your FAFSA application is based on your previous year's income For example FAFSA for 2012-2013 academic year is what people are filling out now... it is based on 2011 earnings & 2011 tax returns Why can't you apply for FAFSA now? there is no way to answer this because the info you gave is about your current situation... not you earnings from 2011
