How do you write a good letter of reccomendation for a scholarship?

You might want to enhance your "details." Are you writing the letter for someone else or looking for one for yourself? If writing, be honest. Explain how you know the person and for how long. Praise them, but be sure to give concrete reasons that they are special. (Not just "they're great"... try "they are very caring, for example they work at a summer camp for kids...") Try to give an interesting opening paragraph, followed by a paragraph with specific details supporting the opening paragraph. Close with a short summary paragraph. If looking for a rec., be sure to choose someone who knows you well, who knows about your interests and special projects and who will elicit some respect from the scholarship committee. Don't be afraid to go to a source that is non-traditional. It doesn't have to be a teacher, ask a youth pastor, a camp counselor or your first boss. And, it sounds simple, but make sure its someone who likes you and will talk you up! Good Luck!
