Scholarships, to study in the US from UK?

Why do scholarships for study in uk (taught courses PG) have so specific criteria?

• For anyone applying to UK universities, masters courses, there are only a hanful no. of scholarships, most of them for research students. Others are specifically for certain colleges ( can't apply if the college does not have your course ), some have age criteria ( to do a masters with those scholarships you have to be 25-35 yrs, so if you are 20/ 21 wait for a few years and then explain the gap!!???) And some have course criteria too. Why can't there be better funding opportunities for students interested in taught masters courses?

  Don't know why??? but then hey such is life or better still that's what it boils down to in capitalist countries!!! you have to search and research for the best opportunities available which would mean by the time you finally settle in you just might have missed those opportunities which would have be off benefits to you. All I can say is welcome to the band wagon
