Where can I find college scholarships for writing essays?
-
I'm a 28 year old wanting to go back to college; however, I have been to college off and on since 2003, and have a lot of the general studies classes completed, almost can get the general studies degree. Anyways, I want to go back to school to complete a certain major, but since it has been awhile going to a university, I was wondering where I can find websites that allow someone like me to write essays for tuition help, but a lot of them I've seen require you to be juniors or seniors in high school? I know there are a lot out there, just don't know where to look? I want to challenge myself and write a convincing essay on a certain topic, but don't know how they do this now days? I always made good grades in school. Only went to one university for one semester a few years back, but mainly have been to community college. I want to go back to a different university, but I want to challenge myself to get into a better University. My SAT scores were terrible, only because they psyche me out, and I have other learning disability issues like adhd, and my high school didn't prepare me enough and I had other anxiety issues, which I've gotten help for since. That was when there was different scoring for the SAT's back around 2002. They have changed the grading scale for the SAT's since, but I know if I want to get into a good university now, they might want to still look at my SAT's. I want to show them that I can write an essay, and I have a lot to say to convince them to go to the university. Any help on finding scholarships will be helpful too, thanks.

Answer:
Check out ScholarshipExperts.com and Collegeboard.org. When they ask about hobbies or skills, be sure to check 'writing', as this will trigger the essay-based awards. Many do not consider your grades or financial need, just the content of your essay. In fact, there are several short essay scholarships open to students 13 years and older at www.scholarshipexperts.com/apply.htx. Look for the essay contests that have a high word count too, as younger students tend to tay away from anything requiring work.

you will need a current ACT/SAT... that means if you haven't taken this in the past 3 years, then you need to go ahead & take it again I don't know of any scholarships that meet your description. I am sure they are out there, I just haven't looked. Good luck with getting back in school! Also, you want to get back in ASAP.... the reason that I say this is because credits that are over 10 years old still count against your overal total (for Fin Aid) but won't be credited because you did not complete a degree. In fact, it might be in your best interest to get back to the community college & complete that general studies degree FIRST (before going to another school to complete a certain major) so that you don't loose all those credits. Make sure you talk in length with the admission people at the school you most recently went to as well as the school you have in mind so you know what to expect as it relates to this problem
