Can you still receive financial aid without a green card?

Financial Aid Question, for College?

• I have 2 questions : When will I receive my Spring 2010 Financial aid grant refund? I have over than 2000 dollars in refund (according to the online information) and it has been a month and 2 weeks and I still have not received it. (School started on Jan 28 now it's March 10th).. So I'm worried a little bit. My last question is: If you have a credit card, and the money that you receieve from Financial aid is sent to the credit card, will the government check the amount of money you have on your card and reduce the grant if they think I have too much money on my bank account? (I have 2000 now, and if I get 2000 more, i will have 4000). Will I receive less grant next year? Please help! Thank you!

  1. You should check with your financial aid office and make sure you do not have any missing documents. You should also check to see if they mailed a check and that it was sent to the correct address. These are the two most common problems at my school. A lot of times you can check all this online without calling or waiting in line. 2. No no no. The only time you need to tell the Dept. of Education how much money you have in your checking account is when you fill out the FAFSA. Usually reporting a few thousand dollars will not reduce the amount of aid you get. Now if it is something over 10k, then I would worry (but don't lie on the FAFSA)!
