What are room and board expenses?

How to eliminate the cost of room and board, and any other expenses at college?

  • i'd like to live on campus ideally but the only way i could afford it would be to become a residential adviser.... so what are some alternative living situations? are hostels really cheaper in the end? subway stations?! sewers?! couchsurfing.com lol what are any ways i can reduce the cost of college? there are two completely free colleges i'm applying to but i probably won't get in, and i don't know what else to do because financial is stingy and i can't go to any college that uses loans, only grants so i'm limited there too. i'm gonna try to get some scholarships but i can't rely on that contingency either. :( wut i do?! i live in garbage cans!?!?!?!!?! not really lol but i'm willing to slum it for a real education. i've been looking at crappy schools but deep inside it makes me very sad cuz i want to learn as much as possible and have the best education i can get. but i beeen trying to be realistic. but i want to be able to go to a good school and not have to go to community college just cuz it's all i can afford. though i can't even afford that. my college account has about 2 thousand dollars in it.... and my parents combined income is about 90k, so idk how we so pooor but don't qualify for any aid stuffs prolly cuz my mom buys **** all the time and puts us in crazy debt. and my parents said they not gonna help pay, so do colleges consider that in determining financial aid?

My advice is to come down to Earth. no lesbian is going to pay for you to go yo college and you treat men like ****. Grow up, this is life. See what your parent and you working can afford. You do not know more than your parents. If you think so you are ignorant. Schools are like assholes and you are just passing through. There is no free ride Honey. Learn to be nice to men. They are your only salvation.

You may have to make the difficult decision not to attend college/university this next school year, work at a full-time paying job or at several part-time jobs, continue to live at home with the parents, keep your expenses to the bare minimum (that means keeping your cell phone bill low - cutting back on texting and the time of conversations; getting your e-books, DVDs, and recorded music from the public library; walking or bicycling places where it is safe to do so instead of driving, etc.), and saving as much of your earnings as possible for the next full year. That way you will be able to add to your college fund and have the money to pay for on-campus housing and a meal plan. If you are still a high school student, please talk about college finances with a high school counselor. Unfortunately, many students do not realize the full cost of attendance will include (tuition/course fees, books/class supplies, housing and meals, transportation - either commuting or travel to/from campus at the beginning and end of semesters and at holiday/break times) plus their on-going personal expenses (clothing, entertainment, personal care products, etc.) I recommend you find this book (ask at your local public library and borrow it - free) and read it through to help you learn how to fund your college: Title: Debt-free U : how I paid for an outstanding college education without loans, scholarships, or mooching off my parents Author: Zac Bissonnette Publisher: New York: Portfolio/Penguin, 2010 Source: WorldCat.org The fact that your parents find it difficult to budget their money and seem to spend beyond their means will have no effect on determining a financial aid offer to you, I am sorry to say.
