Is it hard to get into a career college?

Is 30 to old to go back to college and actually get a Career at that age?

  • After high school I didn't have the opportunity to go to college. I was working 2 jobs helping my parents out since they got layed off. I took a few classes here and there but could never afford to go full time. And since I worked so much, fincancial aid was outof the picture. Later in my mid 20's I was diagnosed with Lukemia. My job (6+ years of service) got rid of me for missing too much time. I lost my house, my car, and everything I worked hard for. Since then I have had trouble getting any decent paying job. I mean who is gonna hire someone who gets sick attlot. I have friends that took me in, but I wonder. Is a career out of the question for me? Can I go back to college at my age? I also refuse to get any assistance from the government. I might have Lukemia, but there are other people out there that need the assistance more.

  • Answer:

No, it's not too late to go back to school!!! Although, I would suggest for somebody in your situation to seriously consider going for an Associate degree! Did you know that well over half of all those who possess and Associate degree make the same if not more income than those with a Bachelor's degree! It's true, I got this information from the dept. of labor! And while you may not want assistance from the government, don't be too proud to accept grants and financial aid, school is expensive, and you should take advantage of any opprotunity that comes your way. Good Luck!

Silly. No it's NEVER too late to go back to college. Some people are in college all their life.

No. I'm 40 and in college now. I didn't have a chance either when I got out of high school, but you are never to old to learn. There is a woman in my class who is in her 60's. She inspires me, and tell me don't ever let anything hold you back from what you want out of life, or you really had a life at all. Go to college and do what you really want to do. If you go to work doing something that you love, you will never work a day in your life.

Absolutely not! You are to be commended for going back to college. There is no age limit to fulfilling your dreams, because sometimes you don't have the circumstances to go fresh out of high school. I wish you well, sir!

You're definitely not too old.

I went back to college at 34 years of age and graduated from the nursing program this past December. I am now a RN working in the emergency room. I love my job and I have never regretted going back to college. This December I am going back for my Bachelors and then plan to continue working towards my Masters. Find your passion and go for it --- it is never too late. Good Luck.

Call your local colleges and ask for career councilling and scholarship information. You may have a great opportunity here to get into a career that you can do on your own time as you are able. What have you done? What would you like to do? You should try it. Just don't get drowned by student loans to go. The loans are a new kind of slavery as far as I can see. Good Luck!

Nope, not too late at all. In fact, you are still young in the eyes of many who are just starting college or are still in college. Having a goal (finishing college) could also help you cope with your disease. If you are determined, you can do it. My mom was a homemaker for 25 years with 5 kids. Just recently, at age 49, she decided to go back to college and start a career. Don't give up. Good luck!
