Questions about college scholarships?

Questions about Scholarships and grants.?

  • I start college in the fall, and I have accounts on different websites, like fastweb, scholarship.com... etc. I got the list from my college, and I have applied for a few scholarships, but has anyone on here actually ever gotten scholarships from these places? I know that there are probably millions of college and high school students applying for these scholarships. Also, if you did win, did you receive a check that was made out to your school for you, or to you? Or how does that part of it work? Also, when I did my FASFA, it said I was eligible for the Pell Grant. How do I go about getting money from there? Thank you so much! Oh, and also how does the Fasfa work? does it automatically send money to the school I am going to for me? I have a low EFC, and do I basically need to get enough money to cover what the EFC says? Sorry I asked so many questions, but the tuition/fees department is always too busy to ask.

  • Answer:

I don't know anything about the scholarships from those websites, but as for the pell grant, or any other grant or scholarships you receive from your university the money will go directly to paying off what you owe. Say your account with your university says you owe 10,000 dollars, and your pell grant was for 4000, it will automatically decrease to 6000. You won't see any of the money yourself.
