How long will it take to process a student loan?

Student loan question!?

  • i would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to me the WHOLE process of obtaining a student loan in details. starting with how you research who to get a loan from and if you recommend any company or bank. I'll be going to a community college, fafsas paying for most of it but i need some money just for a laptop and books. i dont need too much probably around or less than $1,000. also since (i think) its a small loan do i have to pay it sooner? would they give the money directly to me or would they designate where it goes to? what if i need another or a bigger loan for school later? how long does it take for them to ok you?

Ok, that's a doozy of a question, but I'll try my best. Some loans are offered through your school, some aren't. Always take those offered through the school first, as they'll have lower interest rates. If you still need money, seek a low-interest outside loan source. The loan is typically paid to your school, and when your financial aid is completely paid off, you'll get the remainder (if you don't owe them any money, this will be your full $1000.) If you start the loan process quickly, especially if you have good credit and a co-signer, the process should go quickly. If you have questionable spending history, it might take a lot longer, or you might be denied. I hope this has helped! It's a very confusing process, but you'll get the hang of it.
