How can I get money for school?

How can i get enough money for school if i cant get a job?

  • I am starting my freshman year in college this fall, i have my plans all figured out for what i want to do how i have to pay and about how much it costs. I am in a 2 year community college currently and i plan to tranfer for two more years at a university. In order to be able to pay for school and transportation, which i dont have right now, i need to make about 15,000 dollars in the next two years from a job, and atleast 7,500 in scholarships so that im not up to my eyeballs paying back student loans, the problem is i cant get a job ive been trying for a year and have been unable to get one, i've done more than 20 scholarship opportunities and have not gotten one scholarship since i started this year. i have no money for college and i feel like i wont be able to go anywhere if i cant fix this problem, any help? I have my fiirst year of college i can pay for thanks to my grandpa but after that im doomed. Also my parents cant help me because they cant afford it and my dads previous income before he got laid off has made it almost impossible for me to get student aid.

  • Answer:

Does your school know that your dad was laid off? Make sure they do, so that if they have any flexibility re: adjusting your aid based on your current circumstances, they can do that. In addition, if your dad is still not working next year, then your aid next year will reflect his laid-off income, rather than his working income, and what you get for aid may be quite different from what you've gotten this year. What are you majoring in? There are some fields where they'll be willing to hire you into entry-level/low-level jobs as soon as you start your studies. Some computer help desk type jobs can be like that, for computer science students. Accounts payables/receivables can be like that, for accounting students. So as soon as you start school, put your college on your resume, listing the degree as "in progress", and see if that helps. It's quite possible you won't get any of the scholarships you apply for. Don't count on that money. With the state of the economy, scholarship funds are getting way more applicants than normal. Competition is deadly fierce. So while you should continue trying, don't count on getting one.

DO AS MANY JOBS IN YOUR HOME AS POSSIBLE AND DONT BE LAZY AS A CAT.

I'm sorry for your hardship. It's a bad time for young people. I hope something works out for you. I do believe the economy will be better and more opportunities will be available. The waiting is tough when you are ready to move on and want to learn.

If that's the case then you can't get enough money. Try getting a loan of the bank but I warn you, It won't be easy paying it off.

you should be able to get a grant if your dad got laid off, especially a community college

Well if you spend time on grades instead of work you should be able to get a good GPA and earn a scholarship. Notice that most scholarships come from the school you go to, not some place on the internet. So if you get good grades, you may get full-ride as a continuing student, or you may earn a department scholarship. Also, some money from student loans arent all that bad, if you know where to look, my source below has great scholarship search engines as well as a student loan comparison tool. As well as other discounts that may help you pay for school, or at least make it easier. Keep working on getting a job too, and if you dads income USED to be high, and isnt anymore, that means that next year the income you will use to get financial aid will be low right? So there is a possibility for financial aid in the future. Good Luck!!
