What is the difference between filmmaking and digital filmmaking?

Filmmaking or broadcasting major? to become tv series director..?

  • i know thats not what im gonna get straigjt out of college so save your typing. i jus need to decide which of those majors will help my carreer as sitcom/drama etc director, that's what I want to be, not talk show or news director, but I'm not sure what to study. (I know it's a tough market but I can make it.) The college that I plan on attending (Thought about NYU TIsch but boy, I don't want to be in debt for the rest of my life) has two majors that sound like they could work, Filmmaking and Broadcasting. Then I plan on going for a year to NYFA as a graduate, But I need to pick a major that will help me in what I want to do, Broadcasting sounds like news anchors, etc, and Filmmaking sounds like movies! which is a harder market to get into. So which major will be adequate for me? I've read the descriptions but I'm still not sure. Thanks for the useful answers!

    filmmaking seems a lot more in tune with being a tv director but there are definitely pathways to become that as well as a broadcast major
