-
I am a student who is looking to sell back my books and I am tired of gettign ripped off by my campus bookstore:-( I dont want to have to wait for an individual to buy my book from me like on ebay. I am thinking about trying out Textbook411.com ( http://www.textbook411.com ) , I used their price comparison search engine to buy my books this year and they saved me a ton and I have heard that they are a good place to sell books back to, I have a lot of expensive technical books and need to get as mutch money as possable and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas.

Hi. I really recommend setting up a seller account at Amazon.com. It's VERY easy to do and then you have a lot of control over the price your book gets. By entering in the textbook ISBN, you'll also know if there's any current demand for your book (e.g. if there are a ton of texts at a low price, just donate the book; you probably won't get a decent buyer worth your effort). Although Amazon.com charges a commission, they also give you a shipping concession (amount varies, but generally $3-$5 per book). If you ship media mail, you can generally make a little money on the shipping, too. Besides, even though you pay Amazon a commission, you still generally come out ahead over the campus bookstores. By the way, selling books on Amazon.com is exactly what services like textbook411 and cash4books do, too. (You can also try half.com and bigwords.com.) I've sold textbooks on Amazon pretty quickly. Generally, I have them only in my possession (after listing) for 3-5 days. Depending on the time of year (summer is generally slow), I may have them longer, but it's okay. Eventually they sell and I get much more than I would've otherwise. Finally, as a last resort, don't throw your books away. You can donate and ship them for free where the texts will benefit third world countries and literacy programs. Visit http://www.betterworldbooks.com/bigwordsmrs/ for more information. I highly recommend it!

Either your college that you are attending. You can list them on www.half.com (it's another part of ebay) I have bought some of my college books on there before. There is also amazon.com that has an area for textbooks!
