What are my chances of getting into the university of maryland?

Do i have a chance of getting into the university of michigan?

  • What are my chances of getting into the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor? I'm a junior at Cinco Ranch High School which is ranked about 400 nationally as a public high school. I have a pretty bad GPA, about 3.4 weighted. I plan to boost it up with all easy AP classes senior year. I took mainly ap and preap classes except for like 3 classes. I'm in FBLA and have won 4th place in regional competitions for cyber security and Intro to Tech Concepts 2 years of computer science club, winning 6th place in AA division tennis freshmen year track junior year Model UN Went to the National Student Leadership Conference for Engineering 2100 SAT 33 ACT Won 2 second place, 2 third place, and 4 honorable mentions in Maryland state piano competitions also am up to level 6 testing for piano theory and have some other district awards for piano well written essays I tested into and attended 2 years of the Johns Hopkins Talent Search Summer program Also got Maryland State Award for Johns Hopkins Talent Search for scoring in the top 10% of state 175 hours of volunteer service presidential volunteer service award (silver medal) volunteered at : Houston Habitat for Humanity Wildflife Rehabilitation Center Memorial ministries Memorial Park Project C.U.R.E Library School stuff AP tests: 4 for AP Lang 3 US history will be taking like 8 more by end of senior year I wanna get into an engineering program. what kind of SAT score should i get to have a more solid chance of getting in? i plan on taking 3 subject tests(us history, literature and math II) but will probably only send in history and literature cause i suck at math. I'm also Asian so that'll probably hurt me alot. It would be most helpful if you could tell me what where i need to be at and the chances i have of getting into each one. Sorry i know this is alot but i'm pretty worried. Suggestions on more stuff i should do would also be helpful I am out of state(i live in texas) as a senior i'm taking AP psychology, AP enviormental science, AP calculus AB, AP stats, PreAp Chinese III, AP government, AP economics, and some other AP classes (some are half semester which is why theres so many) 3.4 is my weighted gpa. but u of m dosent recalculate grades. also in my school (its competitive) a 70% is a D and a 75% is a C. B and A are 80% and 90% respectively so their normal.

  • Answer:

You definitely have a great chance of getting in. Your extra curriculars are amazing and your SAT and ACT scores are above average (I got a 1960 and got accepted) I know for a fact that UM really looks at those application essays thoroughly - they base their first impressions off those if you don't have a powerful essay it will be to your disadvantage so spend a lot of time on that. The engineering school I know is very competitive especially as the majority is Asian but your essay is where you can stand out from everyone else. I am an international student so it's harder for us to get in but I had a little higher of a GPA than you and lower SAT and ACT scores so you definitely have a great chance of getting in. Just show off as much as you can :)
