How much is the yearly tuition for international students in the US?

HOw do college students in the US pay for their tuition?

  • I'm planning my Graduates degree in the US, but unfortunately the tuition there is 8 times higher than I'm paying now here in Canada. I'm just curious as to how you pay for tuition. Does your parents pay for it? Scholarships? Grants/ Loans? ...

  • Answer:

Few US parents can afford to pay for graduate school. So the student needs to apply for as many scholarships and grants as possible - and then take out education loads for the rest. Contact the school that you are planning to attend and they can usually help you find scholarships and grants to apply for. I don't know what all is available to Canadian students, but the school should be an excellent resource. You are certainly not the only international student they have.

combination of all of the above. Also, it usually not the tuition that's too bad anymore. What is really bad is the fees. So always ask for the price of tuition AND fees.

Parents usually suppose to save up money for college while you were young but some gets scholarships or just borrow money from the loaners or bank

Well your parents pay for it if they can, but if they dont make as much money then you can qualify for financial aid and they pay you money to go to school as long as you dont fail classes, your a full time student, and have a 2.0 GPA or higher, tuition may be high for you because your out of state, for example if i live in minnesota and want to go to school in california it cost more to go to a school in california because im from out of state so they charge more, i think you have to be living in the state for like 3 yrs or longer to have reduced fee but in your case your from canada so it costs way more and yeah people also pay for school through grants/loans/ scholorships too

Usually it's parents, loans and scholarships. Some people can get a full-ride depending on their grades or their parents' income. Most people graduate with a lot of debt.

It is handled differently by everyone. Essentially, students whose parents aren't extremely wealthy fill out a form called the FAFSA, which allows the universities to calculate the family's financial capacity. They then develop a package of aid which will will cover the difference between their tuition and what they have calculated that the family can pay. If the student comes from a low-income family, they may be eligible for some grants, and if the student is particularly talented in some way, s/he may be eligible for scholarships. Otherwise, the tuition and other costs are covered by things such as work-study and loans. I can tell you that at the college where I work, only 20% of students' families are paying full tuition. The others are getting financial aid of some sort, ranging from small amounts to a free ride.

Your parents are so post to save up money for you sense the day you are born :) some get scholarships and loans. but i think a majority are Financial aid by the government and loans. However, all loans for graduate school are charged by interest.

Either parents pay for it if they can or the student goes into massive debt. scholarships are possible, but competitive in this economy and they usually do not cover room and board.

We earn scholarships and take out loans. The few PhDs worth earning will pay YOU to get your degree.
