Why did you take up a computer-related course?

This is for Psychology Majors. Did you take a "Brain and Behavior" course? Did you find it helpful? Why?

  • I am taking one right now but struggling. I have never taken a Psych course that I didn't do well in and I'm wondering if it is me, the book, the teacher, etc. I guess I may just not find it interesting because I'm a Business Major minoring in Psych, but I still thought it would be helpful in understanding what I would need to use in the workplace in a managerial position. It is just confusing me and I fear it will affect what I already know.

    I did not take this specific course in college however I have studied it extensively since I have been practicing. I honestly believe it supplies more answers than many of the theorist were able to provide. It of course is used in conjunction with theories in practice but there is honestly an area you miss out if you don't cover it. Try reading Molecules of Emotion, I can't think of the author, she writes in a way that is very down to earth and yet really explores the impact of emotion on neurochemistry. From their it is easier to expand into the concepts of behavior.

hi, I did brain and behavior last year, it confused the hell out of me at first, but it turned out to be the best one i did in terms of really feeling that id learnt something interesting and new. I hadn't done any science since i was 15 and i though i would never get it, but i did and my understanding of it now helps with all the other courses. stick at it, you'll grow to like it I'm sure, I barely knew what neuron was when i started! It'll click in to place. i don't know what text book you're working from, but we used Kalat, J. 2004, Biological Psychology. 8th edition, Wadsworth, it's really clear and explains everything really well, i definitely recommend it. good luck!
