What is a good double major to do with communications?

I want to go to law school..what is the best bachelor major for it...is communications good or buisness?

  • or is there any other Ba degree good for your background or good with a law degree ?

  • Answer:

Some colleges still offer what they call pre-law programs, which are essentially political science programs combined with history, economics, and other social science and humanities core courses. In many other colleges, most students headed to law school major in political science or government. The reality, however, is that law schools will gladly admit students who major in virtually any subject, earn decent grades, and do reasonably well on the LSAT's. That being said, perhaps students majoring in the fine arts or physical education would be less attractive to law schools than students in other programs. And, students interested in specialty areas of law should choose their undergraduate majors appropriately. For instance, a student interested in patent law might want to major in engineering, industrial design, or physics, while a student interested in corporate or real estate law might opt to study business as an undergraduate. One final piece of advice...since many students who begin college thinking they will attend law school ultimately decide not to, and because law schools admit students with virtually all majors you can imagine, you might want to think about the career other than law which most interests you, and major in whatever would prepare you for that career. Good luck.

Unless you want to practice patent law, pretty much any major will work as long as you do well in it and on the LSAT. Firms that hire patents attorneys look for an undergraduate background in the sciences (esp. engineering and biomedical sciences). Popular majors for those interested in law school include political science, philosophy, English, and business. Some universities offer "pre-law" concentrations in one or more of those majors. Hope that helps!

You need to talk to your school counselor and she can advice you. And, also get in touch with the law school that you would like to go, and ask them what you need to take in college. Don't take chances and mess up your education!

Many lawyers have their undergraduate degree in political science, English, or any of the social sciences. What carries more weight in getting into law school is your undergraduate GPA and law school admission test scores. Much more so than your major.

I would think that your GPA is more important than what major you have, as well as how you do on the standardized test you have to take before being accepted.
