How to get a trial with a europ club?

Can I get into Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Columbia University and Washington in St. Louis?

  • I am a junior who is attending a high school which is the 9th best high school in Illinois. I have a 4.88 weighted GPA and a 3.96 unweighted. I have taken all honors classes except for two extra regular classes. I have also taken one AP (AP Euro) and am currently taking AP BC Calc. I got a 4 on my AP Europ and hopefully will get a 4 or 5 on my BC Calc exam. I got a 31 on my ACT and plan on taking it two more times. And my extracurriculars are: Tennis Varsity tennis sophmore, junior year went to state for tennis junior year went to an Athletic Leadership Conference Junior Year Key Club freshman, junior year Spanish National Honor Society applying for National Honor Society and probably will be accepted Best Buddies soph, junior Secretary of Best Buddies, president possibly next year Have volunteered for 40 hours at a nursing home and will continue into summer and senior year worked over the summer at a pool and plan on working this year as a camp counselor So do you think I can get in?

  • Answer:

Yes to all. The number of AP classes you've taken is a bit low, especially for Columbia, but if your school doesn't offer a lot of APs they won't hold it against you. Your ACT score is a just a bit low too, but your grades and tennis more than make up for it.
