How do you pursue a career in Fashion Marketing?

• I am a Sophomore still but like many other sophomores and seniors, have been thinking about what to do in college. I am really interested in fashion marketing because from what I have read and heard about this field is everything I have been looking for. However, before making any final decisions. I need some things cleared up. In colleges such as Parsons or FIT (fashion institute of technology). They have this field in the Associates Degree area. If I would be looking in pursuing a career with this degree, what should I be doing and what college would be most ideal. Do I first go for the Associates Degree? If so, what should I do after obtaining this degree? Is there any way to study more on this field for a degree? Like a Bachelor's degree or any of that sort. I am sorry for all these questions but this has been troubling me lately. Thanks in advance ! :)

  I am friends with a girl who is a buyer for a shoe store, but she has also helped out in fashion shows. I don't know if this is the type of thing you're looking for, but she got a bachelors in Textile Apparel and Merchandising and got a minor in Marketing. She would like to be a buyer for a clothing store someday, and is just trying to work her way up the ladder. Oh yeah, she started by working at a high end department store designing the store layouts/ setting up the appearance of the store Then, she got a job as a buyer for a big furniture store, now she is a buyer for a shoe store. We graduated together in 2002- so's she's going on being out in the workforce for 7 years.
