What is the process of becoming an RN?

Wanting to become an RN?

  • Can anyone give me a small step-by-step process on becoming an RN? (I have a diploma and graduated with a 3.0 GPA, didn't take the sat/acts, and have no college experience at the moment) I'm wanting to take college courses for it online, but searches are very minimal. So for having no college experience at all, what steps do I need to take? Thanks a bunch!

    If you have your high school diploma, all you need is to find the nearest school of nursing and apply. The guidance office will tell you how to go about doing that. They can also help with finding funds to pay for it. Are you a guy? Good - it turns out that men make outstanding Registered Nurses - I'm one of 'em. My six children and two granddaughters are proud of the Old Man...

Well as an RN student myself i can teel you most Colleges and universtiy's offer Degree's for a BSN (bachelors of science in Nursing) this includes most communtiy colleges. their are alot of prerequisties before getting into any Nursing program so i would decide on which school is close to me and offers the program then sit down with a councelor and work out a schedule. it is a very demanding course and i would try to get the highest grades possible because it is a very competitive program. I would first suggest going to a community college, the course's are less costly then a university and their class's are better for 1 on 1 with the professor.Good Luck!

try PIMA it is a medial school. My older sister works there but it is only in a couple of the states.

There are community colleges that provide associate's degrees in nursing (RN). It only takes two years to complete, but there are prerequisites as well. I would suggest getting job as a certified nurses assistant, and going from there. Many medical facilities provide grants if you promise to work for them for a time. Other grants are also available. Due to labs and clinicals involved, online diploma would be worthless and I believe nonexistent for the classes.

First start with your local University or community college. They will have all the information that you need. Do not take any online classes. You are better off starting with the school in your area and asking about their programs there. Once you speak to an advisor in the nursing program, it will be easier for you.
