Answer:
After one week call them to see if the position has been filled. I would send them a thank you for your interview or considering your application to remind them that you really want the job.Did you do this? You do this the minute you return from the job interview or turn in the application. You use this opportunity to mention another great characteristic about yourself that you may not have had the opportunity to mention. It should be short . Dear Whoozit, Thanks for considering my application. I failed to mention my interest in sports equipment and that I was in charge of raising funds to finance new uniforms for our bowling team. I am looking forward to further discussing the contributions I can make to your company. You should research the company to see what direction they are going or if they are expanding in an area and mention you look forward to growing with them as they expand in this area.. This looks like you aren't just going to be another warm body who is showing up everyday.Google them, it is easy to find additional information. When you call , give your name and ask if the position has been filled. Ask if they will keep you in mind for any other positions that open up if they tell you the job is taken. Thank them for their time. Now, you are in position for the next opening possibly and you know where you stand. Never take refusals personally. Someone from the company may have hired his nephew. Use spell check and have someone proof read your letter or e mail prior to sending it. Best of luck.

If you know they're hiring, I'd suggest to call about a week after you applied and say something along the lines "I just wanted to check up on my application, blah blah blah, other polite things." It will give them the impression you really want the job. I mean, it doesn't hurt to check. Edit: And yeah, a follow-up in person is a better idea than calling, but that depends on your schedule.

Well, it all depends on the place at which you applied. I've never heard of that store, so I would not know their policy for hiring. However, usually places will hire within a week of when the application was turned in. One place I worked at, though, called me the day after I turned it in. Once again, it all depends on the place. I think it is a very professional and impressive thing to call the place to "restate your interest in the job." You should probably wait a few days (5) to a week before calling.

How long you should wait depends on the type of job and a few other details. Normally I would say give it three days before you follow up with the company. I wouldn't say however that following up on the phone shows laziness, any follow up shows interest. I would in most cases wait about 5-7 days right now since what people are forgetting is this. Companies have a large amount of applicants for just about any position due to the bad economy. As a result of this, it takes them a little longer to sort through them and return calls.

Wait 2-3 days after applying and then go follow up in person. Sometimes following up on the phone is a sign of laziness. Just ask to speak to a manager and say that you applied a few days ago and just ask if he has seen your application.

I would wait definately 2-3 days. Call and see if they had gotten the chance to look at your application and if they had on the fourth day i'd go there in person.

Normally 2 weeks. I once applied for a part time job and did not hear from them for 2 months. I had walked in on my own and they were not hiring at the time but kept my application...they called me when they were hiring. I have been working with them for 2 years now:).

Don't listen to them! I applied for Taco Bell and didn't get a phone call for a month and a half!!!
I would wait at least a week then if you don't hear from them then just call and ask to speak to the store manager and say I turned in a app a week ago and I wanted to know if the postion is still open and if it is can I schedule an interview.
