How to become a book editor?

Which colleges and majors should I consider if I wish to become a book editor?

  • What are the top ten colleges to consider if I wish to major in literature, English, or journalism and, eventually, become a book or copy editor? In addition, if I wish to become an editor, is it more preferable for me to major in literature, English, or journalism?

An English major will give you the knowledge in grammar necessary to edit books. You may wish to minor in literature to give yourself insight. Good luck.

I'd like to be an editor after I graduate. I'm majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing at the University of Houston. I've heard that my school has one of the best creative writing programs in the nation.

I've considered the career and I've been told that English Literature (What it is called here in Canada) is the type of degree you need to attain. As for graduate school, I am not quite sure what kind of education you will need once you are finished your degree in English. Sorry, that's all that I know, wish I could be more help.
