How can I get into Stanford University?

  • I'm a junior in high school, so I still have 2 years to prepare for college. I'm wondering if there is something I should be doing that would help me get accepted to stanford. By the way, I have a 4.0 and take honors classes, and AP classes. Next year I'm taking some leadership classes (I know colleges look for that). I'm in honors society, key club, junior officers, drama club, and basketball. I also take part in community service. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? Thousands of people apply, but how can I stand out?

    AP Classes, great start, very important hint: Take summer program in Stanford University and try to take classes at community college as a concurrent student. Very importantly: Need more volunteer hours, not at one place, more than five place. Grade: All A's, including AP and Honor classes. Start consulting about your personal statement in application, and to get an idea go to Stanford.edu or you can just sign up online on common application where you will send your application , you can just sign up there and just look at the application, you don't have to turn in. Just look at the application get an idea, need strong points and reasons why Stanford should choose you. Meet with some experiences person to help you out. More than 2000 in SAT I, and around 650 in SAT II subject. Start taking SAT, so each time you will do better. Last advice: Do not do by yourself, get advice from advisers. Good Luck.

Only 10% get in, but I'm sure you will if you score high enough. You worked hard. ;) -------- Report/delete this if you want, but I have to vent. I've always wanted to go to Stanford! -------- Be lucky you school has AP/Honours, leadership classes, key club, and drama. My HS school has none of these. My school does have sports, but due to lack of student participation you must go out for all of the limited athletics my school offers just to go out for one. :( Since I have a certain disease I can't. No where to do volunteering around here, and the test scores are much less than average for Iowa, indicating not so good teachers. Otch, and since the Ele and HS share teachers, if one gets a grudge on you in 2nd grade, you are ****** until you graduate. They have to be the worst ever. The only good thing has to be that it isn't ABSOLUTELY 'clique-ish'. The only way I can get into my dream school is with a freak-ish SAT and ACT score. Of course I COULD still do some things to look good on a college app. just soooooo much harder. My school isn't even that small; 200 students in the JR/SR High. And it is also OVER-funded.
