I need advise off law students in university or lawyers - What A Levels would you recommend me taking?
-
I'm going to be starting my A Level/ AS courses in september, so i'm currently in the process of choosing what i'll be taking. I'm thinking of doing English Literature, History, English Language, Psychology and the Baccalaureate. I'd like to study law at a Russell Group university (the 20 top universities) and hopefully become a lawyer. So, what A levels would you recommend me taking? If you are a lawyer or have studied law at university, what A Levels did you do? I'm quite happy with my choices, apart from English Language because i here it's considered an 'easy' or 'soft'/'softer' subject than the rest, why is this the case? I realize that the sciences, maths and the languages are very highly respected by universities, but i'll be needing three grade A's and i'm not quite as good in those subjects as the ones i've chosen so far. Any help you can give is much appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:
Hi :) I've just finished my LLB (Hons) Degree and I did AS Levels in English, History, Art and Biology, and for A2 I did English, History and Art. They tend to like essay based subjects particularly English and History because the foundation of those subjects is analytical writing and supporting your contentions with evidence to support your theories. I'd definately do English and some other subjects related to it, English Literature as you said has more weight to it than the softer Eng Language. Universities which offer law often like Politics as well if that helps :) Good Luck! :)

I'm not a law student but I am taking next year: English lit, Psychology, History and French. A language is good because it shows you are versatile, a good learner and not ignorant
