What degree do you need to become a coroner? or a medical examiner?

A coroner does not have to be a physician, but a medical examineer does have to be a pathologist. A non-physician coroner is rare. Obviously, forensic pathology is a subspecialty of pathology. yea an associates degree would be great to start, but a biology degree with emphasis on human biology would probably also be a really good idea. there are also bachelor's degrees you can get in forensics that would also be great for the career. you'd probably also need to get an internship or an apprenticeship at a hospital or in a morgue.

The criteria is different in different places. Some places require a medical degree, some don't require any (in some places it is a political post and the ME doesn't actually examine bodies). Check your local requirements.

a medical examiner is a med. doctor - same education. but a coroner can be an elected office or a mortician in some places.

You must go to Med. School to become a medical examiner, and your degree must be in Pathology

Depends on the state laws. I think most are medical doctors who specialize in find the cause of people's death.

You have to go all the way through medical school to be coroner.
