Is Vancouver Film School worth the money?

  • I am currently an undergraduate student majoring in creative writing. My end goal is to end up a producer for a TV show or something similar to that. I am working hard, but have no industry connections and am a little unsure where to go. So is VFS worth it for the 'Writing for TV and Film' program? It's a huge amount of money for one year and I hear really mixed reviews. Maybe it is better to keep working away at my degree? Anyone have any experience with the school?

    I'm a graduate of the program, and I can honestly say that I had a positive experience. Most of my classmates would certainly agree with this sentiment . There are, of course, a select few who didn't seem to get as much out of it as others, but it's just like everything else in life - you get out of it what you put into it. I made some invaluable connections while attending the program, ones that are still opening doors and giving me plenty of opportunity to succeed in the Vancouver film industry.

No film or TV school is worth the money. Even graduates of USC and NYU in film and TV usually cannot make careers in those overcrowded fields.

No its not worth the money why would you wanna pay more then 10,000 a year to receive the same education as you would at a cheaper school.

NO Film School is "worth the money." Many graduates end up working for Tim Hortons.
