How much does generally cost to be in a sorority?

How much does it cost to be in a social sorority and to live in the sorority house total a year?

  • I really want to join a sorority in college. Is it really that much more than dorms? A year of dorms is about 7000, i can't imagine being in a sorority and living in the sorority house is much more than 7000. I am wanting to go to WSU.

    Well living anywhere off campus is always cheaper then living in a dorm. So living in a sorority house will probably cost like 500 dollars a month. It shouldn't get up to 7,000 for the whole year unless this is some luxury sorority house. However I am talking about paying the rent alone. There are also sorority dues that you have to pay, but again, all in all, it should not amount to more then 7,000 a year.

Not all sororities have a house. And those that do, usually do not have room for all of their members. So don't count on rooming there, especially as a freshman. Most colleges require freshman to live in a dorm. You need to set up your housing before you leave for college. You will not be able to rush a sorority until you are there. So freshman year is out for living in a sorority house. My friends son pays $1200 per year just in dues to his frat.
