How important is being in an Honors Program as an undergrad?

Undergrad Honors Program Helpful for Grad School?

  • I am currently enrolled in University of Washington and I will be focusing to go to law school. I want to get into a prestigious law school such as Univ. of Chicago, NYU, or even Harvard and etc. I feel like I can get to those by just keeping up a high GPA, studying for the LSAT, doing some clubs while maintaining a job. Would participating in the honors program and graduating with honors significantly increase my chances?

  • Answer:

Yes, graduating with any honors can drastically improve your chances for getting many programs, but not all. For law school, I would definitely say yes. It's just one more thing that will make you stand out above the other applicants. Plus, most honor programs make you do an undergraduate thesis, which for research fields are priceless. Harvard generally won't even look at your application if you didn't graduate at least *** laude or some form of honors. -edit- lol, yahoo answers is bleeping out my latin
