Part-time job for a college student - what would you recommend?
-
I am currently a full time student and a part-time employee at Chili's. The money is good, but the stress is hardly manageable with the course loads that I take, and I don't want to compromise my studies for working. What kind of decent paying jobs are out there that I could work that would supplement the stress of a restaurant job?

Answer:
Gosh, I sympathize with you . I put myself through nursing school that same way! Sales of any kind can be stressful. Without knowing anything about you and your personality it is very hard to make a suggestion. There are many jobs available but I don't know your financial situation either. Perhaps you could incorporate your studies with a job search. In other words find something in your relevant field. Maybe you need to change places of employment. These chain restaurants are high paced, high turnover, an unsympathetic. Find yourself a family owned dinner restaurant perferably "white table cloth". A more upscale clientele is likely to be there. Most of the time a lot less hassles and the tips are great !

I am sorry If I am rude but you think being a server at Chilis is stressful!!!!????? well you might want to rethink your school venture all together. Every job is stressfull but I must say I was doing school fulltime and working as a bartender/ server 20-25 hrs a week ( at a very busy bar)and i found that time to be relaxing compared to my moments of school and study. It was a time where I could put my mind to rest and stop worrying for abit. You wont find a better paying job than server/bartender during school. Suck it up!

I would say work at a job where you would use your employee discount a lot, like your favorite store or coffee shop nearby.

It depends on what you are going to school for. Look at a job that would complemint your major. Im working as a medical assistant at a GI office part time. I go to school full time. My major will take me into the field of rehab/therapy, so alot of the office/medical/hospital/physician networking will do me lots of good for when i graduate.
