Is accounting high school course is hard?

Should I change my Accounting Major?

  • I really want to be an accountant in the future as they are in great demand and make a lot of money, sometimes in the 6 digits. But I am doing terribly. Last semester I got a C in Financial Accounting, and this semester I am currently getting a D in another accounting course. Its mainly because I am simply not a good test taker, and this especially applied to me on those tough accounting tests. But anyway, I heard that Intermediate Accounting is the devil, and is also one of the hardest classes at my school. With that said, I am thinking of changing my major to Business and Finance (actually a double major). Most people enjoy this major. But here's my question, is it possible for me to get a high paying job with a Business and Finance degree, because from what I heard, Business majors are easy to find, and often times they don't get very good jobs. Should I work harder and stick with my accounting major, or take a chance and switch to Business and Finance. I am not really enjoying this accounting course either, but I don't know if that should be a factor on my future life.

Okay, I was in the same EXACT position as you. I was majoring in accounting and doing horribly even though I was getting A's in all of my other classes. I picked accounting because it seemed like something I would be good at and would get me a good job out of college. However, I took a step back and seen how I was doing and how much I hated my accounting classes and realized that it's only going to get harder and I really hated doing it. Do you really want to be stuck doing something for the rest of your life that you hate doing and aren't good at? I say you need to switch your major. It may not even be in the business field. I am now majoring in environmental science. It's a far ways off from accounting but I love it and am doing great. I already have a job offer for when I graduate. My advice is to take a look at all of the classes you have taken so far and see which ones you enjoyed the most and which ones you did the best in. Pick something that interests you because accounting obviously isn't it.

If you are having trouble in accounting, then you are going to have even more trouble with finance. A business degree is very marketable, but being a "C" student is going to make a good job hard to find in any major. The question that you should ask is what job will make you happier. If you hate your job, then how much money you make doesn't matter.

Chris hit the nail on the head: what job will make you happy? Step back and think about what you enjoy, and what you are passionate about. When you've identified that, then look at jobs and careers where you can turn that passion into making a living. You'll be a happier person and likely more successful in terms of careers, as well. Hopefully your college has a good career center. If they do, chances are they have interest inventories and aptitude tests that you can take. Once you take these, your career center should be able to help counsel you on majors and careers that combine your interests and strengths.

U should change accounting because u rn't enjoying it.U should take the course which enjoy much. It'll improve ur result also.U'll find the best job,if u enjoy what u do.

Change your major. If you couldn't understand Fin. Acct., then you should not take any more accounting classes. Intermediate Accounting and Intermediate Accounting II are the hardest classes. As for making money in another major, I am not really sure. Anyone who wants to be successful can be successful. There certainly are different kinds of jobs out there for business and finance majors than for accounting majors -- mainly sales, though. However, some sales people make boatloads of money. Like real estate agents or insurance salesmen. It can and does happen.
