Is collegeboard.com the GPA weighted or unweighted?

Do colleges look at unweighted gpa or weighted gpa?

  • I wanted to go to University of Greensboro http://www.cappex.com/colleges/The-University-of-North-Carolina-at-Greensboro-199148 That website is a great site for college but I was wondering if a school like that would take in my gpa? My gpa is 3.5 UNWEIGHTED but 3.8 weighted. My sat scores, I will take that in a few months, Im only a junior.

  • Answer:

They want your unweighted cumulative GPA from beginning of freshman year to end of junior year for your application. once accepted it will be on the contingency of your senior transcripts. You should plan on taking the SAT twice. Most students score better the second time.

Other answers

Both of the other answers are correct. Unweighted GPA is what is used. The weighted inflated GPA originally used to encourage students to take honors, AP and IB classes now has been used to satisfy parents and students by having them think that the students, teachers, and school is doing better than they are.

Only high school looks at weighted grades, truly, there is no point to them, its just to lure in students with the opportunity of a handy cap.
