When do I start applying for college?

  • I am currently a junior and highschool, but I have NO idea about college admissions or anything (our counselors dont tell us...they expect us to know)... when should i start applying to colleges and for scholarships?!

    Right away in the latter of your junior year. So right about now look into financial aid. And research the colleges you want to go to(immediately, take some trips, do some scouting, research online in the least). Then halfway through summer you need to get some applications, think about writing some kick *** essay, and do some community service(colleges eat that up) for example I work with Hospice, but maybe you would do the food bank. Then begin to turn in applications when you become a senior (look at deadlines and try to be, oh maybe a month ahead of it?) Just remeber by december most colleges stop accepting mail. So you need to collect, refine, proof read, have a teacher edit, and move on with those applications AS SOON AS YOU GET BACK TO SCHOOL, senior year. Roughly, before homecomming. If not sooner. And remeber, make your essay stand out, it doesn't have to be textbook. Brag about yourself, but get emotional, get into it, make it the most open book interesting thing about you. Imagine a million essays that say the same thing, the same boring, I'm a leader, I do all these clubs, I'm basically all about myself, and then think about that one essay that talks about how they need the chance at college, there mom has cancer and they want this so bad to reach their dream before she dies, tell them that they are building the foundation of your life, and with their help THEY can Make YOU and better person. (But don't lie, that is a big no.) :D Ivy league? No problem. Good luck.

Go to colleges open houses they will tell you about the admissions process in greater detail or keep and eye out when colleges visit your school to ask questions. You should start applying for scholarships as soon as possible. The sooner you apply for scholarships, the better chance you will have. You should start applying for college in the beginning of your senior year, preferably before January.

right after you get your SAT scores back..you should take them early so you will have a chance for retake if you need it!

First you want to take your SATs. Then you need to send out college applications usually before February or March. See a college you want to go to and look up Application Deadlines. If you really don't want to sweat it and just live a good a life with good people, go to MUM. It changed my life!

It all starts in your senior year I know for me when I tried to get the applications, most applications for my current year were not out If you want to be ahead get the applications during the summer time and if you really know what school you're aiming for I expect applying early admit, which the application is due on Nov 1, or earlier depending on the school for regular applications, they start as early as late November and end as late as Feb. depending on the school I know that UCs (University of California) has a deadline in late Nov and that most private schools (the well known ones) have deadlines of around Jan. 1 , but they are all difference so you really have to do some individual research on your part like go to the university website, Yahoo! them (university name) undergraduate admission

Ok it really depends on the school, but most schools open up in October and are usually due by November. Now some schools that do "early decision" (they tell you if your in or out sooner) will open it up in August, so check the schools your applying to, they will for sure let you know.
