Can you go to a Community College and then Transfer to University?

I plan to go to my local community college and get my basic and general learning classes I need. And then transfer to a University. my community college is CLC (college of lake county) and the school I want to transfer to is NYU. My question is, is it possible? Are there certain requriements I need in order to transfer? p.s. Im not planning on being a Doctor or a Lawyer at NYU, my goal/degree im going for is an MFA Degree in "Game Design" While Minoring in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science/Programing or something like that, I don't know I am not certain.
