What should my college major be?

What major/minor should I do for college?

  • I love writing. I want to be a novelist. I always say that i'll major in English, but now im UNDECIDED! I don't know what to do. My parents are pressuring me in what I don't want to do. If I do become an English major, what are the jobs/careers can I do?? I want to at least work where I get a great pay. So I start thinking more and more. Because there are jpbs that I may do, but still undecided. If I major in english, I can minor in psychology. But then what? what do I do with those? My mom always asks me what jobs are available for you if you major in English? There are two things I like and want to do: write and graphic designs. With english major, can I help/teach disabled or special eds how to write? can I work in advertising? I dont want to be a teacher. What can I do with a psychology minor? Then my mom comes and tell me that I can be a physical therapist. I'M UNDECIDED! CONFUSED! Thank you in advanced (sorry for the long question)

  • Answer:

If you major in English you could be a writer/journalist although I don't know if it will be easy finding a job for it :/ If you are good at graphic design, then you should consider maybe a career in advertising. As far as physical therapy, unless you like science and health and don't mind having to teach and assist people constantly, then I wouldn't bother going into it. Just major in something you are really passionate about :)
